The emergency homeless shelters are the busiest places at
Crossroads Mission.

Their main purpose is to offer homeless guests the basic needs of a safe environment, a clean, comfortable bed, hot meals, and access to showers and bathrooms. They are open 365 days a year, 24 hours a day.
Our goal is to restore and preserve the dignity of human beings through the love of Jesus Christ.
Guests may stay for up to ten consecutive days each month. (Longer stays are available when participating in the New Way Program.) Guests must be 18 years and older or accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. A valid, non-expired, and acceptable identification must be presented. Proof of marriage is required for couples wishing to stay at the Family Shelter together. Without identification, guests are only allowed one night of shelter.
Everyone is required to be sober and is given a breathalyzer at the time of bed sign-up. In some cases, a urinalysis to test for drugs may also be required. The safety of all residents is a priority. Anyone who refuses to submit to testing or anyone who is found to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs will not be allowed to stay at the shelters. The option to enter the drug and alcohol stabilization and treatment program is always presented.
Spiritual counseling, prayer, and case management services are offered to all guests. Additionally, information about the programs and services offered by Crossroads Mission and orientation to community services is available. Each person is helped individually and confidentially to help them achieve self-sufficiency, independence, responsibility, and overall better quality of life.
We also serve as a refuge for families, women, or men who are escaping an abusive environment.

Children at the Shelter:

Being homeless is hard for anyone, but homeless children have their own special challenges. They struggle with understanding why they can’t go back to their house, or why they now have to stay at the shelter. That is why we try hard to help them build positive memories full of love, friends, and caring staff members.
Our goal is to provide services that make the least disruption for the children but result in the most help for the parents. We coordinate with schools to help them avoid negative consequences. We help with everything from enrollment in school or daycare, to referrals to health care and other agencies.
Our case managers work with each family on a case-by-case basis to try to determine which course of action will best help the entire family. Our philosophy includes family reunification, support, functionality, and happy children.

Daily Services at the Shelters

Break rooms are open every day starting at 2:00 PM

Guests can escape the heat or the cold in our clean, climate controlled, multi-purpose rooms. They can rest, watch television, or read a book from our bookshelves. Snacks are sometimes provided by the kitchen.

Showers are open to the public everyday at 3:00 PM.

If needed, we can provide a clean towel, soap, shampoo, a razor, a comb, toothpaste, toothbrush, deodorant, feminine hygiene products, and a free change of clothes. (If available.)

Chapel services every evening at 7:00 PM.

Our multi-purpose room turns into a chapel where the Gospel of Jesus Christ is preached daily. Volunteer speakers from local churches provide the services each evening. All guests are encouraged to attend.

Bed sign-up every evening at 7:45 PM.

Guests are required to check in with the case manager on duty to request a bed to sleep on. When beds are all taken, we have bed trays that get placed in the multi-purpose rooms to create an extra dorm room.

You Can Help!

Every day we give away dozens of personal hygiene products, clothing, shoes, and blankets. We run our washing machines constantly to clean sheets, blankets, and guests’ clothes. We go through laundry soap, cleaners, and disinfectants very quickly!
