Career & Academic Center

Located on the main campus of Crossroads Mission, the Career & Academic Center is an adult education center that helps individuals obtain their G.E.D., receive computer literacy courses and individualized tutoring. These services are free of charge and open to the community. Program participants are encouraged to utilize the services of the Career and Academic Center. We are committed to providing opportunities for our students to acquire the self-respect, dignity, and self-confidence necessary to be productive individuals in our community. Completing education or furthering education is an important tool to change. We serve over 400 students each year, providing over 13,000 hours each year. Over 30 GED’s are earned each year! We provide all materials needed for the student’s successful completion of their Individual Education Plan. We offer:

GED Program

The Crossroads Career & Academic Center graduates the equivalent of a small high school senior class every year. We utilize a back-to-basics individual approach to lesson plans. Our adult learners learn by doing! Participants up for success

Vocational Training Program

The vocational training program is designed to prepare the participants to learn supervisory skills, food service skills, how to maintain proper sanitation and health conditions, office assistants, warehouse management, retail sales, and a variety of other positions. Participants learn how to work with people, live sober, productive lives, and be engaged citizens in the community. Quite often those who complete the training get jobs in the community.

FAQS

I dropped out of High School and never got my GED. I find it hard to get a job now. How can I get my GED?
Our GED Program is open to the community as well as for the homeless and program clients. Your first step is to have a desire to better yourself and then make the call, or come to the Career & Academic Center (Mon-Fri 8 am-4 pm). We will set you up with an Individual Education Plan based on the results of an assessment test that you will take.
How much does this cost?
Our GED Program is free thanks to special funding from generous donors who want to help others improve their lives.
I am embarrassed to admit that I cannot read or do math that well. What about me?
We provide a safe, positive, trusting, honest, and professional environment focusing on your strength! It is more embarrassing not to improve yourself.
