The Crossroads Mission Recovery Program is a complete drug and alcohol recovery program.  It features:

 

The 1st Step Center enables people to stabilize from drugs or alcohol by offering a safe environment.  This facility is opened open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.  The center offers 24-hour monitoring by certified Emergency Medical Technicians.  A nurse practitioner provides medical services to each client upon entry into the program.  Clients may stay up to 10 days to utilize the stabilization services.  A vital signs protocol, Chemical Institution Withdrawal Assessment, observation, screening, and case management services help prepare the individual for further treatment in the community or at Crossroads Mission's New Life Recovery Program.

New Life,  following stabilization.

 

This New Life Program offers group and individual therapy by licensed counselors or counselors who are supervised by licensed counselors.  All counselors meet the state requirements as Behavioral Health Professionals, Behavioral Health Technicians, or Behavioral Para Professionals. All staff members complete many hours of training during the year.

 

The program content is based on the 12-steps of recovery with an emphasis on seeking a higher power to recover from the disease of addiction.  While not everyone recovers using the 12-step therapy, counselors are trained in other appropriate substance abuse modalities.  Crossroads Mission believes that those clients who find that Higher Power have a greater chance of success and encourages clients to seek the road to spiritual recovery.

 

Peer support services utilize individuals as role models who have “been there, done that”.  These certified peer specialists offer hope and motivation to addicts who have seen little hope in the past.  Peer specialists are trained to offer individual or group therapy sessions.   Through role modeling and spiritual guidance, clients have a greater chance to recover.

 

Case management services are offered for all clients, as we know through years of experience, that people who are trying to recover must be “treated” as the whole person for a total recovery.  Many folks come to the Mission with as little as the clothing on their backs.  Through other programs of the Mission and the in-kind donations of our generous donors, Crossroads can offer clothing and other essentials to basic living to all people receiving services.  Many times, clients may have family members who are trying to keep a household while their loved one is participating in the program.  Crossroads does everything possible to make the recovery journey as painless as possible but many times change is painful.

 

The New Life Program places a strong emphasis on family unification and reunification.  Clients are encouraged to include spouses, children, and other family members to participate in activities or counseling sessions.  If the needs of the individuals are greater than the services that Crossroads offers, each person or family will be referred to an appropriate agency for other help.

 

We encourage people to enter the program with an open mind.  Many folks object to attending devotions or spiritually enrichment activities.  Participants are encouraged to keep an open mind and work on character quality building.  It’s not how fast or strong you starts!  It’s how you finish! We are not only concerned with your physical, social, and emotional recovery, but also with your spiritual well-being!

What is addiction? Addiction may be so ingrained in us that we define our identity by it.  We need to learn to rebuild our self-perception.  Addiction is a disease because it changes the make-up of the brain. Many times the addiction to the drugs is so controlling that the addict has little control over their behaviors.

 

How do you know if you need treatment for addiction?:  When your life is out of control and unmanageable; when you have had loss of job, marriage, family members, finances, or when you experience spiritual emptiness due to the use of drugs or alcohol, you may need professional help to overcome the disease of addiction.

 

What is recovery?  It is putting your life back together, one piece at a time... one day at a time.  It is experiencing forgiveness and a spiritual awakening.  You learn to view life through a new set of glasses.  Recovery is a life-changing process.

 

How can I get into recovery? The beginning is a desire to change.  Make a phone call for help.  Crossroads offers assessment for the severity of addiction and both a residential and an outpatient program.

 

Will it take long? Recovery is not over-night, it is a progression.  It requires a lot of work and support from your family, friends, and the community.  But most of all - from a Higher Power!
